I’ve worked as a freelance cameraman and Director of Photography for feature length broadcast (ABC/Foxtel/Netflix) and AFI nominated documentaries, in News and Current Affairs (Channel 10/The Project/ABC News) as well as owning and operating a digital video production company (Pixel Flix) servicing corporate, government, NGO and community based clients (NAB, Vic Gov, Tourism SA, PLAN, World Vision). My drama and narrative work has also featured at independent and well-established film festivals (Melbourne International Film Festival/New York Winter Film Awards/St Kilda Film Festival).
Having worked for more than twelve years as a social worker and public health consultant before turning my hand to freelance camera work, I’ve developed a unique set of people skills that I bring to my production work. Making films and telling people’s stories visually is my way of capturing the ordinary and the extraordinary around us, and creating engaging visuals and meeting new people provides me with inspiration and the constant change that I find I need in my work.
Given the often-complex endeavor that filmmaking can be, I believe it’s essential to take a collaborative approach to problem solving. Working together to find solutions is what makes creative exploration all the more rich, surprising and rewarding. While dividing my time between Melbourne and Adelaide I’m more often than not working from the back of a busy production vehicle, in one of the big smokes or out somewhere, beyond the black stump.
